You’ve just registered for a new WeChat account!

Enter your preferred name that will show up on your contacts on WeChat.

You can also link your email address to your WeChat account
so that you can sign in using your email in the future. Open your WeChat App.
Go to Me > Settings > My Account > Email. Enter your email address and
tap “Save.”

How do I sign up without a mobile phone number?

You cannot create new WeChat account without using a phone number.

WeChat is focusing more on online security and identity authentication to prevent spam or any misuse of the
app. People use WeChat beyond texting. They use it to send voice messages, to make online calls and to make digital payments.

If you’ve somehow managed to previously open up a WeChat account using only your email address, WeChat will keep asking you for your mobile phone number. If you don’t provide it, your new WeChat account will be deleted permanently without any notification.

  1. My mobile phone number cannot have feature to receive SMS (not because smart phone does not have the feature). Is it possible “wechat” can call my mobile phone number to let “one time” code?

    • Hi Tori!
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, WeChat currently only allows SMS as a form of receiving a verification code. You may ask a friend who has this function to register on your behalf but there is no other way at the moment.
